Scene Segmentation by Color and Depth Information and its Applications
نویسندگان
چکیده
Scene segmentation is a classical problem in computer vision and image processing. Traditionally this problem has been tackled by exploiting only color information from a view of the scene. Recently, a great amount of research has been done in order to develop efficient solutions for depth estimation and tools like modern stereo vision techniques and ToF range cameras allow accurate depth information extraction. The availability of both color and depth information opens the way for new insights in scene segmentation algorithms. In this paper, a novel scene segmentation framework is introduced. The goal of this approach is to capture the scene distribution, taking into account both color and depth cues, in order to provide a more accurate segmentation. Numerous applications can benefit from an effective scene segmentation method, e.g. 3D video, freeviewpoint video and game controlling. In this paper we will also show how the proposed segmentation scheme can be used to improve depth data compression performances, by using it in order to identify and extract the edges and the main objects in the scene.

3D Scene and Object Classification Based on Information Complexity of Depth Data
In this paper the problem of 3D scene and object classification from depth data is addressed. In contrast to high-dimensional feature-based representation, the depth data is described in a low dimensional space. In order to remedy the curse of dimensionality problem, the depth data is described by a sparse model over a learned dictionary. Exploiting the algorithmic information theory, a new def...

متن کاملModified CLPSO-based fuzzy classification System: Color Image Segmentation
Fuzzy segmentation is an effective way of segmenting out objects in images containing both random noise and varying illumination. In this paper, a modified method based on the Comprehensive Learning Particle Swarm Optimization (CLPSO) is proposed for pixel classification in HSI color space by selecting a fuzzy classification system with minimum number of fuzzy rules and minimum number of incorr...

Reducing the number of colors in an image while preserving its quality, is of importance in many applications such as image analysis and compression. It also decreases memory and transmission bandwidth requirements. Moreover, classification of image colors is applicable in image segmentation and object detection and separation, as well as producing pseudo-color images. In this paper, the Kohene...
متن کاملIntegration of Perceptual Grouping and Depth
Different data acquisition methods are tailored at extracting particular characteristics from a scene and by combining their results a more robust scene description can be created. A method to fuse perceptual groupings extracted from color-based segmentation and depth information from stereo using supervised classification is presented. The merging of data from these two acquisition modules all...
